Hurricane Melissa devastates Jamaica, leaving thousands in crisis. The JAHJAH Foundation launches urgent relief to help affected families recover.

Kingston, Jamaica – October 28, 2025.
Hurricane Melissa has struck Jamaica with devastating force. Homes are destroyed, roads are blocked, and thousands of people are without power.

Because of the widespread damage and growing unrest, Prime Minister Andrew Holness declared a State of Emergency in St. Andrew South. The declaration allows police and soldiers to protect citizens faster and coordinate rescue operations.

“Our first duty is to protect the Jamaican people,” said Prime Minister Holness.
“This decision helps us act quickly to restore safety and stability.”

The JAHJAH Foundation Acts Quickly

The JAHJAH Foundation has started the Hurricane Melissa Relief Effort. has launched its Hurricane Melissa Relief Effort. The goal is simple: help families survive and recover.

Teams are providing food, water, medicine, and shelter to those in need. They are also reaching remote villages and assisting local clinics. In addition, volunteers are clearing debris and delivering emergency supplies.

“Now is the time for compassion and action,” said CEO/Founder Dr. Trevor Dixon of JAHJAH Foundation.
“We call on Jamaicans everywhere—and friends of Jamaica worldwide, to stand with us.”
