MISS GUADELOUPE 2023

07.28.23

The outstanding Jalylane Maës was crowned Miss Guadeloupe 2023 in a regional competition held on Wednesday, July 19 at Palais des Sports et de la Culture du Gosier.

The new Miss Guadeloupe is originally from les Abymes, she is currently a student but she is also the co-founder of a cultural association, Chale which promotes traditional dance on the island.  Jalylane Maës will start an administrative, economic, and social license in September. Her long-term professional goal is to create his own business in the field of events. Guadeloupeans were also able to see her on television, in the musical program Jou An Mizik. Many strong cultural activities will probably allow her to stand out before the Miss France 2024 election, on December 16 in Dijon.

“July 19th is a date that changed my life and that’s all because of you. You brought me love from the beginning to election night and even more today,” said the new Miss Guadeloupe.

Miss Guadeloupe is a beauty contest that elects a candidate for Miss France every year. Several young girls from the Dom-Tom archipelago take part in this regional competition to become ambassadors for the department. Since the creation of the contest, four Miss Guadeloupe have been elected Miss France: Véronique de la Cruz in 1993, Corinne Coman in 2003, Clémence Botino in 2020, and Indira Ampiot in 2022. It is the ninth regional committee that has won the most Miss France times.
